Abstract: This paper describes the author's feelings and thoughts of visiting the Garden Expo and several classical gardens built around the 18th century while attending an academic seminar in Berlin in 2017. It puts forward a personal view on the significance of transformation of the European garden art from the regular pattern to the natural style and the role of the “Chinese style” in this process. He also compared it with changes of the traditional garden art values in the Wei and Jin Dynasties in China. In addition, the paper introduces the general situation of the Berlin International Garden Expo and the planning ideas worth learning.
