Research on the Construction of Landscape Network based on Urban Expressway in Barcelona

Since the 80s of last century, Barcelona began the “city restart plan”, combining the urban expressway and public space construction, as an important way to achieve urban renewal, and had achieved remarkable results. The paper focuses on the development strategy of the traffic efficiency and public vitality of the fast road in Barcelona, ​​and analyzes the great potential of the combination of expressway and landscape network. The core construction strategies in Barcelona landscape network construction based on the expressway are analyzed from three aspects: 1) Expressway as an urban landscape corridor, 2) Expressway intersection as landscape node, 3) Expressway as a framework for integrating the regional landscape network. At last, the paper summed up that the construction of the fast road in Barcelona is no longer a separate urban transport improvement project, but is a constant work trying to combine modern road fast traffic demand and the ability of traditional streets to guide the public flow. It has important implications for China’s urban expressway construction.
