Evolution and Current Trends of Graphics in the Landscape Architecture Profession and in Higher Education

Graphic technologies have allowed design professionals such as Landscape Architects and Architects to better communicate graphically across professional lines, combining accuracy with visualization for project development. However, the inclusion of these technologies have impacted the Landscape Architecture profession and curriculum of design programs in a variety of ways, both positively and negatively. This paper will explore the evolution of graphics in landscape architecture design programs and in the profession, present recent studies that examine what graphic technologies are being used in the professionand conclude with a discussion on the implications of these changes on educational institutions.
