Analysis on the Design Path of Urban Public Space in Post-disaster Reconstruction

  • Post-disaster reconstruction is related to the long-term, steady development of disaster areas. It has drawn much attention by scholars, and become a kind of people’s livelihood work that the state and the government attach great importance to. It involves many aspects, such as the society, economy, environment, culture and physics. Since the Lushan Earthquake on April 20, 2013, the authors, as witnesses to disasters and practitioners of post-disaster reconstruction, have taken the design of Lushan Genyiyuan Square as an opportunity, in which the “remodeling” design concept were proposed through interviews and questionnaires. The concept focuses on the ecological, cultural and public space remodeling in post-disaster reconstruction, and stresses the problem and demand-oriented design framework, to explore and summarize the design path of urban public space in post-disaster reconstruction, reflecting its local, cultural and public value connotations.
