Urban Habitat and Plant Community Design: Research on Habitat-site Design and Construction in Semi-arid Areas in Northwest China

  • Urban ecosystem service functions make an important contribution to human health, and its effectiveness depends on the level of biodiversity in urban green spaces. Taking the internal mechanism of landscape construction compatibility of the urban “habitat + plant community” model as the key scientific issue, this paper emphasizes the ecological value of systematicness and practicality of small-scale green space habitats and networks in the spatial scale matching relationship of ecological intervention in urban planning and design. Based on the experimental research on the urban habitat-site design and construction and groundcover community design in the semi-arid regions of northwest China, and the exploration on the construction of block unit of habitat network pattern, it concludes that transformation of research and design variables between ecology and architecture, experimental research method of mutual transformation between theory and practice, spatial matching relationship between urban construction and urban ecosystem are the three core issues when urban habitats and their plant community landscape construction are taken as the subject research areas.
