Model and Strategy of Ecological Restoration and Plant Landscape Construction in Loess Hilly and Gully Region: A Case Study of the Area Along the Yellow River in Zhengzhou City

  • The loess hilly and gully region is featured by fragmented terrain, criss-cross ravines and gullies, fragile ecological environment and serious soil and water erosion. In this region, ecological restoration and plant landscape construction play an important role in ensuring regional ecological security, improving the ecological condition of local watersheds, and promoting the construction of ecological civilization in the watersheds. Taking the area along the Yellow River in Zhengzhou City as an example, this research, based on field research, analyzes such characteristics as elevation, slope, slope aspect, land use type and visibility area of the loess hilly and gully region and the distribution of ecological sensitivity area by virtue of the remote sensing technology and geographic information technology. In combination with theories of ecology, landscape architecture, forestry and other disciplines, the research proposes in a targeted way the planning strategies and plant allocation schemes for the four categories of habitats of loess tableland, loess ridge, loess hill and loess gully in the loess hilly and gully region from the following three aspects: ecological function division, plant space allocation mode, and plant landscape construction in typical habitats. The research provides theoretical support and technical reference for the ecological protection and high-quality development of the loess hilly and gully region along the Yellow River in China.
