Restudy on Yanshan Garden Restoration of Taicang in Ming Dynasty

  • Yanshan Garden was Wang Shizhen’s private garden in Ming Dynasty, but it has all gone today. On the basis of previous studies on Yanshan Garden, this research explores the possible restoration scheme for the garden. While making a more comprehensive, in-depth excavation of the relevant historical data to the garden literature from the perspective of tourism and to the garden map with the method of iconology to integrally ensure the reliability of the conclusion, the digital technology is used to improve the restoration results by reproducing the landscape on the basis of scene restoration. Comparing the conclusion with the existing restoration research, it has found that further progress has been made in the aspects of spatial layout, node number and distribution, building shape and orientation, and the relative position relationship between elements. The analysis of the restoration model verifies that the garden in the middle and late Ming Dynasty periods stressed dynamic sightseeing experience, and that the Yanshan Garden contained the craftsmanship the “human ingenuity” and “natural interest”.
